A couple of days after the WSOP kicked out an alleged burglar, another poker player was disqualified after headbutting his opponent. It took place at the Prague leg of the European Poker Tour.
According to Global Gambling News sources, the incident occurred during Tuesday’s last hand of the evening. Italian player Michele Nizzardelli was disqualified and penalized for fighting with a player he had just eliminated from the tournament.
In the event and hand-in issue, Nizzardelli called with A-K, and Swedish pro Ghattas Kortas moved all in with pocket tens. Nizzardelli flopped a king and went on to win the hand.
Nizzardelli turned around and started to walk away. However, Kortas grabbed his hat, seemingly unhappy at being eliminated. Nizzardelli objected, pushing Kortas to the floor with a shove. According to reports, Nizzardelli struck Kortas in the nose with a headbutt, knocking him back to the ground as Kortas stood up to face his opponent. After that, security stepped in, removing Nizzardelli from the competition and leading him out of the building.

According to bookie pay per head service experts, Kortas has just over $525,000 in live tournament earnings. On the other hand, Nizzardelli has nearly $78,000. But now, neither will be recording victories in this competition. About 1,285 people entered the €5,300 buy-in tournament, setting a record. A €1,030,000 first-place reward will be given out in the coming days.
