The injury to Vance McDonald could be significant based on a move the Pittsburgh Steelers reportedly are making.
Pittsburgh is acquiring tight end Nick Vannett in a trade with the Seattle Seahawks, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on Tuesday.
Vannett, a third-round pick in 2016, has four catches for 38 yards this season with Seattle as the complement to Will Dissly. Pittsburgh likely sought out the trade because of concerns over McDonald’s status.
McDonald left Sunday’s Week 3 loss to the 49ers with a shoulder injury and had his arm in a sling on Tuesday.

The Steelers also added tight end Alize Mack to their practice squad.
McDonald caught two touchdown passes in Week 2 and was emerging as a valuable piece in Pittsburgh’s passing game. Xavier Grimble also saw some action for the Steelers at tight end in Week 3.
