Mookie Betts left the Boston Red Sox’s game on Tuesday night against the Texas Rangers with renewed discomfort in his left foot.
The Red Sox right fielder crashed into the wall in right field at Globe Life Park in Arlington while trying to track down a fly ball from Delino DeShields Jr. DeShields ended up with a triple, while Betts hobbled a little after getting the ball back into the infield.
An inning later, Betts was removed from the game and replaced in right by Gorkys Hernandez.
The Red Sox said that Betts had been removed due to foot discomfort. The 2018 AL MVP has missed several games lately due to his left foot.
Betts was 1-for-2 with his 29th home run prior to exiting. He’s batting .294 with a .911 OPS this season.
