College football sits at one of the top spots in sports people like betting on. In fact, a lot of people who become a college bookie start out offering lines in NCAA football. And this year’s Playoff National Championship last Monday was one for the books. Not just because it was a game between LSU (No. 1) and Clemson (No. 3), or the amazing offense we saw in the game.
Gambling news outfits were surprised to discover that the first half was two hours long. Yes, you read that correctly, 2hours. Halftime started at 8:15 with the score at 28-17 in favor of LSU. Most people were even jokingly asking if the second half was going to be today.
College Playoff National Championship
People were even feeling tired in behalf of the players, having to play a game that was going on for hours, although there was a 30-minute halftime. But the third quarter of the game was anything but boring, with both teams giving as much as they were taking. Eventually, of course, LSU beat Clemson, with the game ending at 10:15. The game was 4 hours long. Did anyone bet with their bookie pay per head on the length of the game? Did anyone ever think it would be longer than the film Titanic?
Clemson’s Trevor Lawrence could only watch LSU as they celebrated their 42-25 win. This is unfamiliar territory for the quarterback: this is his first loss in a game in his whole college football career. This loss also ends the 29-game winning streak of Clemson. What seemed to be an unstoppable team struggled in the last game of this season, despite Clemson leading in scoring defense throughout the league.
LSU Wins Championship Title
But LSU has proven that is deserves the championship title, especially with Burrow showing us an amazing performance with 31 out of 49 passing for 463 yards. He has 5 touchdown passes, and another 58 rushing yards, plus of course, a touchdown run. Burrow accounts for all 6 of the team’s touchdowns.
If anything, this game just shows us how games can be unpredictable, and how a few minor factors could collide and cause a team with an amazing streak fall to a team who has played strong throughout the season, unafraid to fight for the top spot.
