Netflix continues to offer live-streamed events by announcing its plans to stream the Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul match. It will take place on July 20 at the AT&T Stadium in Texas. Also, it is part of the deal with Most Valuable Promotions, a production firm founded by Paul and Nakisa Bidarian.
Netflix will be broadcasting its third live sporting event. An earlier event was the November live golf tournament, The Netflix Cup, which featured PGA tour players. Also, Netflix featured Formula One drivers through Formula 1: Drive to Survive. Over the weekend, Rafael Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz played a tennis exhibition match televised worldwide as the second Netflix Slam live event. While most live events on Netflix are sports, the streaming video service has considered other live events, such as a stand-up special by Chris Rock in 2023.
While this July event is the first time Netflix has gone all out for sports content, it certainly will not be the last. According to pay per head bookies, the streaming company revealed an enormous five-billion-dollar agreement for ten years of WWE Raw pro wrestling rights, beginning in 2025. Another perk of the arrangement is that it gives Netflix the green light to create original shows based on WWE characters and storylines.

As Ted Sarandos, Netflix’s co-CEO, said on the company’s January earnings call, WWE Raw is “right in the sweet spot of our sports business, which is the drama of sports” and epitomizes sports entertainment.
According to sportsbook pay per head reviews and news sites, the executives at the conference pointed out that the WWE arrangement does not mean Netflix is changing its sports approach. Still, it should add some fuel to its new advertising business.
In keeping with that plan, the July boxing about has the makings of a dramatic event that may draw in a broad audience; after all, the release said that the contest, which would be televised worldwide, “connects six generations of sports fans.”
