Never too Early to Look at NFL Prop Bets

The growth in sports betting has resulted in a proliferation of online sportsbooks and an almost ubiquitous access to wagering. With this the NFL truly has become year round. At least 20 states have approved some form of sports betting, either online, casino based or both. Sports leagues are embracing both sports betting and daily fantasy sports after shunning the practice for decades.

While many bettors have access to legal sportsbooks, most don’t but that still leaves a lot of options for placing wagers. Even in states where the major operators have online sportsbooks, many bettors still opt for other methods of placing wagers for any number of reasons. That still leaves the opportunity for sports betting agents to play a significant role in the industry.

The challenge for local bookies is that their potential clients have all seen those slick websites that DraftKings and Caesars Entertainment operate. Their expectation is that any online wagering experience should at least come close to what those corporate giants are offering. The good news is that there is a great way for the independent sports agent to offer the same online wagering experience.

By using a Pay Per Head service, a local bookie can give their clients access to a state of the art sportsbook. All major sports are available for wagering, including the NFL, NBA, Major League Baseball, NHL, soccer, NASCAR, UFC/MMA, golf, tennis and others.

Every type of wager can be made, with futures, spreads, over/under, money line, parlays and propositions all on the table. The most popular proposition (prop) bets are usually on the NFL. Proposition wagers are bets that don’t have anything to do with the outcome of a game.

NFL prop bets are generally specific to the teams or players involved in the game. Because they are outside of the normal spread, money line or over/under wagers, almost any type of bet is possible. The most common prop wagers are on which team will score first, if a specific running back will rush for over 100 yards, will a quarterback throw a touchdown pass in the first quarter or anything like those. NFL draft bets are also growing strongly in popularity.

The odds are expressed like a money line bet, with one side having a positive number and the other, the presumed favorite, a negative figure. For example, if the prop bet is for Russell Wilson to have a rushing touchdown, the yes odds may be +170 and the no odds at -220. A $10 bet that he gets one pays $27 ($17 payout plus the $10 wager amount) and a $22 bet pays $32 ($10 payout plus the $22 bet).

For bookies that use PPH sportsbooks, it gives their clients a great variety of action to wager on. It also gives the sports betting agent more ways to grab juice generated revenue. Another feature of the PPH sportsbook is live betting, which dovetails nicely with proposition wagers. Being able to place bets during a game while watching it adds excitement to both the viewing and wagering experiences.

A natural progression is to offer a mobile application and the PPH service happily obliges. The mobile app makes it even easier to make live wagers and take advantage of creative in-game proposition bets.

There is a lot more to the PPH service than what is presented to the clients through the online sportsbook. For the sports betting agent, the PPH software provides extensive wagering tracking and reporting capabilities. It also gives them total control over all of the account settings for each of their clients.

Once the account is established, they can establish wagering limits, determine what the client can place wagers on and even adjust lines and odds on a customer specific basis. The bookie just pays a weekly fee for each client that places a wager and otherwise controls all aspects of the relationship. The more action they can get from a client, the more money they make.

From the variety of sports, the array of wagering types and the mobile live betting options, a Pay Per Head service provides everything a local bookie can ask for. The online, state of the art sportsbook gives their customers a great wagering experience, including those great and exciting NFL proposition bets.
