Mississippi Casinos Will Reopen on May 21

Mississippi’s casinos can reopen starting May 21. The announcement comes after Governor Tate Reeves ordering casinos to shut down in March 16 due to the coronavirus pandemic. The Mississippi Gaming Commission (MGC) announced that the casino operators in the state are agreeing to reopen on May 21, at 8:00 am. This reopening will be just in time for Memorial Day weekend. Our Global Gambling news sources say that other states such as Missouri, Ohio, and Kansas will not be opening their casinos yet. These states opt to delay their local casino industries’ reopening.

Within the week, the MGC will release a set of guidelines for casinos to follow. These measures will aim to protect and provide safety and security for casino staff and customers alike. The state has around 29 commercial casinos. They are also the seventh-highest gambling state in the US in terms of revenue.

Mississippi Casinos Prepare for Reopening

Online gambling and sports betting sites provide gaming services from the safety of people’s homes through web and mobile options. There are around 10 casinos that will open in the state. However, these casinos must only accommodate no more than 50% of its maximum occupancy.
