It also establishes as the top four state for sports betting in the country. Wherein it is behind New Jersey, Nevada, and Pennsylvania.
The handle also sets a high bar for how global gambling for sports wagering will likely proceed in the state. Although several states have already released its October numbers, and October handles in New Jersey and Indiana have topped with were record-breakers in September. It seems almost sure that Illinois will follow suit.
Illinois Becomes Top Four State for Sports Betting
Online gambling Korea also notes that the bettors in Illinois did wagering in a big way and mainly through online sports betting. Therefore, Illinois becomes the top four state for sports betting with a $305.2 million wagered. Whereas the $283.1 million or 97.2 percent was done online.
Nearly all of those bets came from three sportsbooks. BetRivers, having opened its retail sportsbook in March and launch its online sportsbook in June, took $112.7 million in wagers, $98.6 million of that online. DraftKings, which went online in early August, got $95.9 million of its $98.3 million handles online. While FanDuel, which launched at the end of August, had a $78.6 million handle with about $200,000 wagered online.
