Last Thursday, the San Diego Padres won over the Atlanta Braves, 11-2, to wrap up their four-game series. However, the two teams won two games each. In the last ten games, the Padres won seven over the Braves. The team has the youngest MLB rotation today.
Matt Strahm started for the Padres and made sports news headlines with the win. He allowed two runs in six innings to get the win for his team. At present, he has a 3.03 ERA in six starts and 32 2/3 innings. In fact, it is a good development for his career after spending most of last year in the bullpen.
At 27 years old, Strahm is the oldest member of the youngest MLB rotation. Its members include Nick Margevicius (22), Eric Lauer (23), Chris Paddack (23), and Joey Lucchesi (25). Also, Pedro Avila, 22 years old, and Cal Quantrill, 24 years old, have started for the Padres this year.

For the current season, the Padres are 32 for 32 when its starting pitcher is not older than 27 years old. In fact, they have the most games with starting pitchers 25 years or younger. At its pace, San Diego to be the 28th team in MLB history to start 132 pitchers 25 years and below.
The last team who achieved the feat was the 2015 Braves. They got 151 starts from young pitchers. However, it was the year they were rebuilding. As a result, they had a 67-95 record. Also, their starters had an ERA of 4.27.
After Strahm’s good start, the youngest MLB rotation has an ERA of 3.42. It is 16 percent better than the average ERA in the MLB this season. Aside from their current pitching roster, they have other young pitchers on the side.
In Triple-A, the Padres have Logan Allen and Mackenzie Gore. According to pay per head experts, the latter is likely to be promoted to Double-A soon.
