Valley Forge Casino Resort in King of Prussia, Philadelphia will open its permanent sportsbook this week. In fact,  gambling news agencies first reported its construction in late January. Also, it is an indication of the growing interest in sports gambling in the state.

The FanDuel Sportsbook will open its doors to the public on March 13, Wednesday. In addition, it will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 12 P.M. Also, a ceremonial first bet by former Eagles player Brent Celek will take place after the ceremony.

The sportsbook is spacious with a total floor area of 1,800 square foot. Moreover, you can find it near the main entrance of the casino. Also, it features seven teller windows, two sports tickers, seats for 30 people, and 29 TV screens.

With the new sportsbook, Valley Forge Casino Resort can compete with nearby casinos, including those in Atlantic City. Just recently, AC casino Tropicana also opened its sportsbook.

At present, all casinos in Philadelphia offer sports betting. The first to accept bets is SugarHouse in December of 2018. Parx Casino is second when it offered sports betting in January. Then Harrah’s Philadelphia Casino and Racetrack launched The Book later that same month. The bad news is that the best sportsbook pay per head bookie can’t operate in the state as of press time.

Overall, Pennsylvania earned $2 million in sports betting revenue. The amount is based on full month profits from Hollywood Casino, as well as partial returns from Rivers Casino and SugarHouse. As a comparison, the state earned $722,000 from sports betting in December.

At present, the state only allows sports betting operations at brick-and-mortar locations. However, that will change around the middle of the year when lawmakers pass legislation to expand sports betting to allow other online options, including sportsbook pay per head operators.
